Rev. Rhonda Thomas began serving as our Deacon in early June 2022. She graduated from the ACTS (Alternative Clergy Training at Sewanee) program at The University of the South in June 2021. After a six-month placement with us, she was ordained into the Diocese of East Carolina at the end of April 2022. As a Deacon, her main focus outside of the church is prison ministry. She currently works with Yokefellow Prison Ministry of NC, a Christian listening ministry that meets with those who are incarcerated and those who are transitioning back into society.

Rhonda was born and raised in Raleigh, NC and the Baptist Church. She graduated from NCSU with a degree in Accounting, and she currently works as a CPA at a local firm. Her husband, Steve, is a Civil Engineer in town who also brews beer, and they have two children - Sarah and Sean. When she is not wearing her Deacon hat or CPA hat, she enjoys reading, watching true crime shows, and walking their dog Pugsley.
