Renewal BBQ and Dance
Everyone knows that the weather in Wilmington can be fickle, but Mother Nature was in a good mood on Saturday, July 27. After a week of excessive heat and drenching rain, we got cooler temperatures and lower humidity. It made everyone feel like dancing. So we did!
More than 80 folks gathered at Church of the Servant for an evening of renewal and refreshment. Middle of the Island catered a Barbeque with all the fixings and sides. Panacea provided an equally delicious vegetarian meal.
Jerry Surprise deejayed, playing tunes ranging from “La Vie en Rose” to Motown to great singalong songs “Sweet Caroline” and “We are Family.” Illuminates provided fanciful creative Face Painting.
Most folks ate at tables in the sanctuary. As diners finished their banana pudding and peach cobbler, tables and chairs were cleared away and Erin Pick, a dance professional, prepped the crowd for line dancing. We were in good hands as she guided our feet and we danced until it was enough. Lots of smiles.
