Hearted Hands Ministry
Hearted Hands - The message “Go in peace to love and serve the Lord!” rings out on Sunday mornings and it doesn’t end there. Being the hands of Christ in the world is an essential part of the shared nature of ministry at Church of the Servant. Stewardship in several forms – sharing of our time, talent, and treasure - is the essence of hearted hands ministry.
The message - “Know you are loved” - rings true as part of the faith community that is Church of the Servant. The exuberance on Sunday mornings is palpable and the enthusiasm contagious.
The good news is it doesn’t end on Sunday! It overflows into every day of the week when many hands – hearted hands - embody the sending forth message: “Go in peace to love and serve the Lord!” Being the hands of Christ in the world is an essential part of COS.
Many of these same hands are imprinted on Rev. Jody’s office wall. It was the “I’m in!” acclamation of Stewardship Sunday several years ago. These hearted hands are a constant reminder of the shared nature of ministry at COS. Ministry where the face of the one doing it isn’t always seen, but evidence of the gift is ever-present.
This theme of hearted hands reemerged during a parish retreat when six pieces of butcher paper were provided to six table-groups. Each group used watercolor paint to decorate their portion. Some groups worked together on their design. Others shared stories with each other as they each painted their own creation. The hearted hand wasn’t revealed until all the pieces were put together and a masterpiece emerged!
This masterpiece epitomizes Stewardship – sharing our time, talent, and treasure in hearted hands ministry.
